Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage - aka RLD - is an award winning protocol that stimulates the lymphatic reflexes, encouraging the movement of stagnant lymph around the body that has amazing, incredible and measured results.
The Lymphatic System is a ”one-way” drainage system that clears any pathogens or waste matter from the body’s tissues. Lymph relies on the body’s muscle movement, breathing and gravity to transport throughout the body, to be filtered, cleaned and returned back into circulation. This system also helps us to maintain a healthy balance of fluid in the body
All lymph travels the one direction pathways towards the lymph “nodes” where here it is filtered and waste material is destroyed (nodes are the small round circles in the picture above). Lymph is then moved on to other lymph nodes travelling towards the ultimate goal of the subclavian vein where it is then sent again (drained back into the body) around the body to collect and expel anything not supposed to be there.
The lymphatic system does not drain on each side equally, but in fact - the right side only drains the upper right hand side of the body. The left lymphatic duct drains the entire rest of the body!
The Spleen is another organ which relates to the lymphatic system. The spleen is responsible for filtering our blood for damaged red blood cells, platelets, pathogens and antigens.
RLD is an amazing reflexology treatment on the feet for those with Primary and Secondary Lymphoedema and Lipoedema and it has even been recorded with thermal imaging the movement of lymph during a RLD session. Click here to see this video.
Lymphatic drainage massage (MLD) is used to treat conditions other than lymphoedema, and RLD may be used similarly. MLD may be useful with the following conditions
